We are looking for an aquisitions editor for NYMBM. We'd really like to find someone who shares our view for modern literature / NYMBM / NYMBM's place in modern literature.  The description for our publication is as follows:

"NYMBM is a home for art that nurtures the spirit and spirits that nurture art. Our focus is to give artists the opportunity to explore creative freedom. We like to publish artists who aren't afraid or who are afraid but are willing to be truly vulnerable. We hope to give artists the opportunity to tell stories which have the ability to connect by breaking typical "acceptable" barriers set by other publications. The material we like to publish gets to what really unites us: truth and experience.

Additionally, we're nice and normal people. Don't be afraid to send us anything. We want to see all of your work. Everything. Especially the stuff you don't necessarily want us to see. Send us the thing you're most scared to share. We are interested in what you have to offer. We believe in you, in your experiences, and most importantly, in your work."

Due to our newness, this would be an unpaid position. (This is not meant to be a full-time job.) However, we can promise you that you won't read work like this for any other publication you'd be working for.

At NYMBM your job description would include:

- revewing, commenting, voting, rejecting, and passing on pieces to the other editors, on submissions.

 - processing all submissions 30 days or under

- generating submissions via creation of submittable forms and soliciting artists individually

- Having fun and being kind to the unique work and artists who submit to our site

Some facts about NYMBM:

- We currently have 4 people on our staff and are also in the process of appointing an official copy editor. You would be one of two aquisitons editors. The Editor-in-Chief also helps out with submissions.

- In 2018 we've had close to 1,000 submissions and an 8% acceptance rate

- We publish on a rolling-basis throughout the year, with a few key themed months.

- We strive to make a literary space for uncensored, important and current topics. We love art that is genuinely honest and truly vulnerable. We operate on a more-is-more mentality. We want the artist's real thoughts and feelings.

- So far this year our themed months have been Pride and #MeToo.

This would be a great way to get some experience editing or get involved in the literary community.  We're excited to hear from you and we can't wait for you to join our team.

We want any kind of fiction. No limits. No boundaries.

At NYMBM our focus is to give artists the opportunity to explore creative freedom, the opportunity to be honestly vulnerable, and the opportunity to tell stories that have the ability to connect us with one another by breaking social barriers to get to what really unites us: truth and experience.
